CRAVINGS: KIMONOS

On a recent trip west, I found something I didn't know I was looking for, exactly.

While visiting the city of Seattle, just down the street from the Seattle Art Museum, I came across a shop. In the window? Scores of vintage kimonos, including this solid silk gem.

Upon picking it up, I knew it was leaving with me. The weight of the garment is something entirely rare in today's fast fashion world.

KIMONO-SLEEVE OPERA JACKET

UNVEILING MY LATEST CREATION: 1990s MEETS THE KIMONO MEETS BETTY DRAPER.

Currently loving full, oversized shapes and layering, I recently began researching kimonos, and very quickly learned that the rabbit hole is deep & I had to have one... yesterday

As a result, this is the latest creation to come out of my corner studio. It is increasingly difficult to deny myself on frequent trips to Mood. Cue the green floral jacquard, pictured right.

Employing further nods to moments dating back to the 1990s, and a want for long layers, I created this silhouette. I love it layered over my leather jacket and over that shredded vintage Levi's denim jacket.
