My friend Leslie, the badass and founder behind Breaking Hearts & Burning Rubber, created a line of custom motorcycle boots (and leather jackets, but we're saving that for the next post.)
She invited me to the studio to see how each pair of handmade shoes goes down, from material selection to the finished pair.
MY CUSTOM PAIR
Leslie and I spent some time looking through her archive of leathers and materials before sizing the shoe and selecting the heel. Below, my finished patent leather booties.

A look at the leather jacket's artful transformation.
The leather jacket can say many things. It can be an expression of sophistication as a more costly material in the apparel world.
In other instances, it can serve as a creative outlet; a means of creating fine art and a medium for self expression. Here, we explore the fashion of the London punk scene as made famous in the 1980s and inspired the 2013 Met Costume Institute exhibit, 'Punk: Chaos to Couture.'

Last night was lit.
Wednesday evening was Member Night at the Whitney Museum, and I took the opportunity to break out my latest piece, an all-over black eyelet dress.
UNVEILING MY LATEST CREATION: 1990s MEETS THE KIMONO MEETS BETTY DRAPER.
Currently loving full, oversized shapes and layering, I recently began researching kimonos, and very quickly learned that the rabbit hole is deep & I had to have one... yesterday.
As a result, this is the latest creation to come out of my corner studio. It is increasingly difficult to deny myself on frequent trips to Mood. Cue the green floral jacquard, pictured right.
Employing further nods to moments dating back to the 1990s, and a want for long layers, I created this silhouette. I love it layered over my leather jacket and over that shredded vintage Levi's denim jacket.
